She earned her BA in English from South Carolina State University (HBCU) and later received her MA in Journalism from California State University, Northridge. Her unique blend of literary insight and journalistic precision fuels her ability to tell deeply personal yet universally powerful stories.

Marva’s debut novel, Bid Whist at Midnight, has captivated readers with its layered characters, historical depth, and emotional honesty. It’s a reflection of her mission: to illuminate hidden histories and elevate Black women’s voices through unforgettable fiction.
